FORT WORTH, TX (4-16-10) - Robb Brent and the No. 36 Allgaier Motorsports Orchard Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dodge Team came into the Rattlesnake 150 at Texas Motor Speedway looking to bounce back from an early race accident that sidelined them last weekend at Salem, IN. Mission Accomplished.
After a very successful test session at TMS in early March, crew chief Dave Leiner, II & Robb Brent had both circled Ft. Worth as a spot on the schedule they felt they would be capable of great results. The car unloaded right off the trailer for practice and was solidly in the top ten.
Expectations of a top five qualifying effort were washed away by mother nature Thursday afternoon and the field for the Rattlesnake 150 were set by 2009 owner's points leaving Allgaier Motorsports & Robb Brent to start 12th.
When the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards went racing Friday evening under the lights at the 1.5 mile Texas Tri-oval the No. 36 team was poised. Robb had raced his way to 6th position when the caution waved for the seventh time on lap no. 40 and the team pitted for 4 tires and fuel. Unfortunately, the Allgaier Motorsports Orchard Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dodge No. 36 was caught speeding on pit road and had to start at the tail end of the longest line on the restart. It seemed as if the day had gone from bad to worse when on lap no. 49 Robb radioed that he thought he was having motor issues. They were able to raise the hood and discover it was a plug wire issue. The pit crew quickly fixed the issue and when the field went green again on lap no. 57 the No. 36 Motorsports Orchard Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dodge restarted 20th.
Robb never lost his focus and was on a mission, picking up 15 spots in the closing laps of the race, 2 of which he managed pass on the last restart. It was a solid effort for the whole Allgaier Motorsports Team.
The Mike Allgaier owned team is now 4th in ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards championship points.
"We had a great day today," said Brent. "Our car was awesome; it was really fast. We had a little trouble - we thought an engine was going down, but it was a plug wire on our cylinder. We came in and had to restart 20th halfway throughout. We passed a lot of guys. I got Frank Kimmel and the 29 on the last restart there to get fifth, so we are really pumped. It was a good bounce back from last week. Proud of my team and looking forward to Talladega"
The ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards heads to Talladega Superspeedway next for the Talladega ARCA 250 Friday, April 23, live on SPEED at 5:00 PM ET. The race will also be carried in live streaming audio at ARCAracing.com
