INDIANAPOLIS − Venezuelan driver E.J. Viso has returned to the track two days after crashing during practice for the Indianapolis 500.
Viso practiced in one of KV Racing Technology's backup cars on Thursday.
Viso spun as he went through the first turn on Tuesday, then slid up the track and slammed into the outside wall. He was taken off the track on a stretcher, examined at the infield medical center and transported to Methodist Hospital after complaining of back pain.
KV Racing issued a statement saying X-rays, exams and tests showed no extensive damage.
Viso was released from the hospital late Tuesday. He was re-evaluated on Wednesday and IndyCar Series physicians cleared him to drive.
