ATLANTA (Aug. 30, 2010) -- The paint scheme on Ryan Newman's No. 39 Chevrolet in Sunday night’s (Sept. 5) Emory Healthcare 500 Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway will pay tribute to the men and women of the U.S. Army Reserve.
Founded in 1908, the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) is the federal reserve force of the U.S. Army. Reserve Soldiers receive the same training as active-duty Soldiers and are offered the opportunity to serve near home until they are needed to deploy. Reserve Soldiers combine civilian experience with military training to provide specialized skills for military missions around the world.
"The U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers have played a vital dual role in maintaining a strong nation – both in their military and civilian careers,” said Newman. “It is truly an honor for our team to recognize the dedicated Reserve Soldiers on our No. 39 Chevrolet in Atlanta. We like the ultra-fast Atlanta track and it is our goal to put the Army Reserve Chevrolet in position to contend for the race win."
