EL MONTE, Calif. (AP) Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a professional auto racer in El Monte as a homicide.
Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says a relative found the body of 48-year-old Hector Urias early Wednesday inside his El Monte auto shop.
Detectives said there were signs of struggle inside the business.
Authorities say Urias may have been shot between 7 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Urias specialized in drag racing Volkswagon Beetles and was active in the Pro Racing Association.
