Iowa Speedway cancels 3 drag race events

NEWTON, Iowa (AP) Technical difficulties with the timing system at Iowa Speedway have forced officials there to cancel three upcoming drag racing events.

The three cancelled ``Test & Tune/Grudge Match'' drag racing events were to take place on the venue's eight-mile strip on August 8, August 22 and September 12. Director of Operations Gale Nungesser says the portable timing system for drag races has weathered a lot of wear and tear over the years and needs some down-time for repairs.

The equipment is scheduled to be repaired in time for the final drag racing date on the 2010 schedule, the Show-N-Shine event on September 19.
